Who is the Thunder King? –From wowjuju.com
The Past
Lei Shen, or by his other name: the Thunder King, was the first ruler of the mogu. He was the one who united them all under one banner.
He gained his power by entering the Thundering Mountain, a forbidden and sacred place for the mogu, where he tore out the heart of their god, Ra-den. This act gave him power over stone and wind.
He made the Thundering Mountain his own and built a huge city on top of it.
This new power, the “mogu way”, grew under his command. He destroyed or enslaved every other mogu warlord who opposed him.
He built the Mogu’shan Vaults to keep and protect his secrets. The pandarens were considered a threat, and he forbade them access to knowledge. Pandaren manuscripts were burned and their leaders were killed.
Lei Shen soon understood that the mantid will never yield so that’s why he ordered the construction of the Serpent’s Spine, the huge wall that protects Pandaria against the mantid hordes and which still stands today. Aside from the wall, he also commanded the construction of the Divine Bell during his reign. This great weapon of war boosted his warriors and struck fear into the enemy’s hearts.
We know little about his death. It is told that he found his death fighting against pandaren monks, in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms, but nothing is certain.
The Present
The Zandalari trolls found the body of Lei Shen and his armies in the Tomb of Conquerors in the Valley of Emperors. They took the body to the Isle of Reckoning and the Thunder King was resurrected by Prophet Khar’zul. The Helm, Axe and Spear of the Thunder King were collected as well.
The Divine Bell was found by Garosh who wanted to use it for his armies. The “fight” between Garosh and Prince Anduin lead to the shattering of the bell, but something tells me that when the bell was struck the Thunder King must have heard it.
About Wow Patch 5.2:The Thunder King:
Are you aware of recent events in Kun-Lai Summit? The Zandalari have landed on the northern shores in great numbers and have set about renewing old alliances. To that end, they have resurrected The Thunder King.
Even among the mogu, the name of the first emperor commands awe and fear. The Thunder King founded a vast empire of slavery and suffering… but also of power, riches, and splendor.
About Wow Patch 5.2: Battle Spear of the Thunder King
I have received some troubling news, <name>.
The mogu are plotting to steal three artifacts of power from the Vale.
We must retrieve the artifacts immediately and hide them for safekeeping.
The first artifact is the Battle Spear of the Thunder King.
Upon emperor Lei Shen’s death, the spear was placed in an ancient shrine to the northwest.
Progress
It was said that the most powerful of ancient mogu could call the powers of the elements.
The Thunder King himself could channel the forces of lightning onto his spear.
Completion
Well done, <name>, although it pains me to lay my eyes upon that wretched spear.
This foul weapon murdered thousands of innocents.
As long as I live, the mogu shall never have possession of it again.
According to Blizzard: “Lei Shen has consolidated his power on the Isle of Thunder, and if he’s not dislodged, his reborn army will threaten all of Pandaria.”
“It has been written that when the great Lei Shen first looked upon the lands of the mantid, he did not feel fear, but inspiration.
“As he began to unify his people under a single banner and subjugate the other races of Pandaria, he knew that the mantid would never succumb to his authority.
“They spoke his language, the language of strength. He commanded his slaves to construct the Serpent’s Spine, a magnificent wall that spanned the length of the empire.
“It would take many generations to build. But Lei Shen knew how to motivate his subjects. Fear. Fear of the mantid moved mountains, raised armies, secured his empire, and built his wall.
The patch will bring server-wide events surrounding the siege on the Isle of Thunder, new factions, world bosses, and more, added Blizzard.
